Three Things: Your Guide to Holistic Living on September 8th
It’s time for another round of “Three Things”, and this one has a giveaway…so read all the way to the end! For those of you who didn’t read the last post, these are just helpful tips, habits, and products that I am using in my own life so that you can get inspired to incorporate more holistic wellness into yours. These are not paid promotions unless otherwise noted, just me sharing what I love with you all!
#1 If you follow me you know that I love to read. Like, a lot. I am usually in the middle of reading multiple different books at once, of varying genres. One that I am particularly loving right now is “The Book of Secrets” by Deepak Chopra. I love this book because it challenges me to think about life differently than the traditional constructs of society would have us think. Reading it is almost like being reminded of truths you knew long ago and simply forgot somewhere along the way. It’s not a revolutionary way of thinking, it’s just a connection back to the truth you already knew.
One of my favorite quotes from the book is, “On some dimension or other, every event in life can be causing only one of two things: either it is good for you, or it is bringing up what you need to look at in order to create good for you. Evolution is win-win…life is self-correcting. “
I love to fill my mind with dialogue and thoughts like these, because it keeps me on course when the chaos of life or the loud voice of my ego sets in. And being a lifelong learner and student of life allows me to continually expand upon the knowledge and tools I have available to me to share with my clients. I find that everything I learn becomes truly valuable once I pass it along to another.
#2 I have always been a bit of a tomboy. Since I love to be active as much as I possibly can, I spend most of my time in workout gear and never wear much makeup or have my hair done. Makeup has always seemed to be one extra step that I just don’t want to bother with unless I feel like dressing up for a night out or special occasion. However, there are certain beauty products that I have found I love using to make me feel more naturally radiant. One that I have discovered recently is ArtNaturals Lush Eyelash Serum. Since mascara is one of the few products I use on the regular, it feels nice to have long lashes to complement it. As much as I love being low-maintenance, I also love the flirty, feminine feeling of having long and beautiful eyelashes. Normally I don’t notice a big difference with products like these, but I have been using Lush for about 6 weeks now and am starting to see some growth. I will keep you posted once I finish the bottle!
#3 Fresh ginger. This has to be one of my favorite things right now. Ginger is an incredible root with so many health benefits it’s hard to believe. A few uses and health benefits of ginger include: improved digestion; congestion/cold reliever; anti-inflammatory pain reliever; helps to lower high blood pressure; improves bad breath; boosts immunity, and so much more. There are a lot of ways to use fresh ginger as well. You can grate it into savory dishes when you’re cooking or use it to top your morning oatmeal; you can blend it into juices and smoothies; you can add a few ginger slices to hot tea; or my favorite, you can make your own candied ginger as a delicious post-meal treat.
I’ve been getting my fresh ginger delivered from Imperfect Produce. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I’ve been getting my produce deliveries for the last month or so and absolutely loving it. Imperfect Produce delivers the produce that grocery stores won’t accept (due to scarring, misshapen produce, or a surplus) at a reduced cost, right to your door. And each box is fully customizable. So whenever it’s an option, I always include fresh organic ginger in my delivery.
If you want to try out Imperfect Produce for yourself, this is your lucky chance because I am doing a giveaway! All you have to do is go to my Instagram (@megansherer) and follow me, then like my most recent picture (the one from this blog post) and tag a friend, and you will be entered to win a $20 Imperfect Produce gift card AND a free holistic wellness consultation with me (a $195 value).
